Billy Kirkpatrick Mills

Billy Kirkpatrick Mills, age 101, born in Tuscaloosa, AL and a resident of Bay Minette, AL died Wednesday, August 23, 2023 at his residence. He was a retired flight instructor who loved to fly and loved to teach others to fly. He was the youngest to receive a pilot’s license in the state of Alabama at the age of 16 and logged over 15,000 flight hours in his career. He was veteran of the U.S. Army Air Force having served during World War II and was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church of Bay Minette. He was very fond of the old hymns as well as hearing Miss Virginia sing at church.

He is survived by his wife of more than 70 years, Virginia Blankenship Mills of Bay Minette, AL; his children, David Patrick (Chris) Mills of Summerville, SC and Nancy Lee (Tommy) Parsons of Sterrett, AL; grandchildren, Tyler Patrick (McKenna) Mills, Victoria Leigh Mills and Stephanie Parsons (Steve) Day and great grandchildren, Savannah Day, Cooper Day and Elliott-Kate Day.

He was preceded in death by a grandson, Todd Michael Parsons.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 26, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the chapel of Norris Funeral Home with Chaplain Mike Goddard officiating.

The family will receive friends Saturday, August 26, 2023 from 9:30 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. service at Norris Funeral Home.
