Betty Stuart Mitchell, age 97, a lifelong resident of Bay Minette, Alabama, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on August 23, 2025.
Betty was the epitome of a true Southern lady. She was always beautiful, cheerful and had a kind word for everyone. She lived a very full life. Married at 17 she had two children by the age of 20 and spent the rest of her life as a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and partner to her husband, Bill Mitchell. Among other activities she loved to play golf and won the Ladies Championship at Holly Hills Country Club. She greatly enjoyed going to the beach and spent nearly every summer at Gulf Shores or Orange Beach with her family.
Betty was a Christian and a lifelong member of First Baptist Church of Bay Minette. We are confident that she is with her heavenly Father and her family and friends who have gone before.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, T.W. (Bill) Mitchell, her parents, Euclyd Feulner Stuart, Sr. and Amanda Louise Hamilton Stuart, her sister Mary Jacque (Cecil) Nall, her brother, Euclyd Feulner (Pauline) Stuart, Jr. and a grandson, James Matthew Mitchell.
She is survived by her son, Thomas E. (Lee) Mitchell, her daughter, Betty Lou (Bob) Wills; five grandchildren, Thomas W. (Jennifer) Mitchell, II, Elizabeth W. Strom, Robert A. (Katherine) Wills, Jr., Mary Dillon (Richie) Sullivan, and Mary Louise (Russ) Reynolds; thirteen great-grandchildren, Harris Sullivan, Cate Sullivan, Bo Wills, Gracie Reynolds, Trey Strom, Wills Reynolds, Mary Brook Wills, Mary Stuart Strom, William Mitchell, Eliza Reynolds, Nellie Reynolds, Matti Mitchell and Matthew Wills.
