Barry Douglas Thompson

Barry Douglas Thompson, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 19, 2024, at the age of 73.

Born on May 27, 1950, Barry lived a life filled with love and dedication to his family. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Pamela Diedtrich Thompson lovingly known as “Snooks”, and his son, Clayton DeWayne Thompson of Bay Minette, Alabama. He also leaves behind his cherished grandson, Hayden Bryce Thompson, also of Bay Minette. He will be deeply missed by his siblings who hold him in their hearts: Mary Kathryn Thompson Roche, Cynthia Janice Thompson Walker, Judith Anne Thompson Flowers (Wayne Flower), Opal Doris Thompson Miller (Don Miller), and Robert Kevin Thompson (Marsha Thompson.

Barry was preceded in death by his parents, Herman Medrick and Kathryn Jacobson Thompson, and his siblings, Joyce Elaine Thompson Bates, Herman Edward Thompson (Virginia Thompson), and Frederick Eugene Thompson (Alma Thompson). He is survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Barry's passion for knowledge, particularly the Bible, was a beacon of light for all who loved him. He was not just a family man but a constant source of encouragement and support to his family and friends, always ready to offer a kind word or thoughtful advice. While fiercely loyal, Barry also cherished his privacy.

Barry Douglas Thompson will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family, faith, and insatiable curiosity. He leaves a legacy of kindness, encouragement, and a love for learning that will continue inspiring those who knew and loved him.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 21st, 2024 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Norris Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, May 22nd, 2024, at 12:00 p.m. at the chapel of Norris Funeral Home with Sister Helen Stewart officiating. Burial will follow at Bay Minette Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Josh Walker, Tim Flowers, Rick Bates, Jonathan Hall, Adam Thomley and Steve Caraway.
