Reverend Hollis Norman Powell

Reverend Hollis Norman Powell, born December 18, 1928 in Mobile AL to Theodore and Lily Earles Powell. He departed this life on November 28, 2019. He was an ordained Minister with the Assemblies of God and received his first credentials on April 29, 1946. He pastored churches in Mississippi and Alabama. Even though he had out lived most of his peers, he did not lack friends, because he so faithfully had poured into the lives of the next generation. He was loved by many and will be missed tremendously.

He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Etta Fay Giles Powell of Pine Grove; two sons, Reverend Wayne (Karen) Powell of Conway, SC and Troy Powell of Mobile, AL; one daughter, Patricia Elaine Powell (Daniel) Rieben of Clayton, AL; three brothers, Herman Leroy Powell of Dallas, TX, Ervin Glen Powell of Mobile, AL and Charles Edward Powell of Silverhill, AL; seven grandchildren; twenty-four great grandchildren and a host of other devoted family and friends.

He was preceded in death by Donald Gaines Powell and Eldon Labaron Powell.

Funeral services will be held Monday, December 2, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Assembly of God Church with Reverend Steve Pettis, Reverend Gary Sapp and Reverend Wayne Powell officiating. Burial will follow at Jubilee Memorial Gardens in Daphne, AL at 11:30 a.m.

The family will receive friends Sunday, December 1, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the First Assembly of God Church.

Pallbearers will be Brent Powell, Steven Powell, Brad Sasser, Blake York, Levi Mathews, Kaleb Metcalf, Jacob Green and D.J. Rieben. Honorary pallbearers will be Lane Sasser and Ethan Green.

Although the family will accept flowers, they suggest memorial contributions be made to Teen Challenge of South Carolina, P.O. Box 1437, Georgetown, SC 29442.
