James Ellis “Shorty” Travis, age 74, a native and resident of Bay Minette, AL died Monday, August 19, 2019 at his residence. He was a retired Forest Ranger for the State Forestry Department. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
He is survived by his children, James Darrell (Cindy Odom) Travis of Dyas, James Farrell (Teresa) Travis of Perdido, AL and George Allen (Joy Lambert) Travis of Nokomis; four sisters, Penny Johnson of Bay Minette, AL, Barbara Smith of Perdido, AL, Debbie Weekley of Perdido, AL and Sherrie Singleton of Pine Grove; twelve grandchildren, Alex, Jacob, Tiffany, Aimee, Chris, Hunter, Tabitha, Sabrina, Axl, Nicole, Tammy and Amy and twenty-three great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathy Travis.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 22, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at the chapel of Norris Funeral Home with Sister Helen Stewart officiating. Burial will follow at Bay Minette Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, August 21, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Norris Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Jacob Travis, Chris Travis, Aaron Caraway, Jerry Greek, Chad Johnson and Axl Lambert. Honorary pallbearers will be Aaron Godwin, Harold "Flash" Fretwell and Hunter Travis.
