James Robert Black, age 82, born in Perry, FL and a resident of Stockton, AL died Monday, June 17, 2019 at his residence. He was the owner and operator of Black’s Cabinet Shop. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mary A. Duke Black of Stockton, AL; his children, John Robert (Jenese) Black of Stockton, AL, Charles Daniel (Christy) Black of Creola, AL, James Andrew (Deana) Black of Creola, AL, Janet Lynn (Mickey) Moss of Bay Minette, AL and Carolyn Ann Price of Opelika, AL; two brother, Jimmy (Patti) Sprayberry of Auburn, AL and Zack (Elsie) Sprayberry of Auburn, AL; eighteen grandchildren and twenty-seven great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Janet Lynn Black; a grandson, Jeremiah Seth Moss and a great grandson, Harbour Ray Black.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 22, 2019 at 12:00 p.m. at the chapel of Norris Funeral Home with Reverend Glen A. Whitfield, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Stockton Memorial Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Saturday, June 22, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. until the 12:00 p.m. service at Norris Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Allen Black, John Black, Ryan McElhenney, Hunter Black, Clay Black, Bobby Black, Drew Black, Jacob Moss, Caleb Moss and Cameron Moss.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Stockton First Baptist Church, 52700 State Highway 59, Stockton, AL 36579.
