Frank Powell Propst, II

Frank Powell “Poppa” Propst, II, age 84, born in Atmore, AL and a resident of Bay Minette, AL died Friday, September 6, 2019 at his residence. He was a veteran of the U.S Army and a Deacon at Perdido Baptist Church. Frank was inspired by Reverend Jerry Caylor and the late Reverend Bill Joy. He was a retired Fire Chief, Firefighter and Certified EMT with Monsanto. Mr. Propst loved being the “overseer” at Baldwin Feed Store and was a daily visitor at Street’s Restaurant table of knowledge.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Shirley Richburg Propst of Bay Minette, AL; his children, Pat Propst (Rodney) Clay of Bay Minette, AL, Dee Propst of Bay Minette, AL and Karen Propst (Jeff) Sullivan of Bay Minette, AL; eight grandchildren, Angela (Terry) Hayes, Kristen Harrelson, Amie (Matt) Byrd, Jamie (Jake) McGowin, Patrick (Meagan) Fowler, Kaitlyn Clemmons, Kathryn Clemmons, Michael Olson and ten great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a grandson, Dusty Roberts; his parents, Frank and Ellen Crump Propst; a brother, Peter Propst and a sister, Sarah Propst Clark.

The family will receive friends Thursday, September 12, 2019 from 4:00 p.m. until the 7:00 p.m. service at Norris Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 12, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. at the chapel of Norris Funeral Home with Pastor Henry Wilson and Pastor Bruce Hooks officiating. A graveside service will be held Friday, September 13, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at the Propst Family Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Dyson Byrd, Anthony "Swamp" Dorman, Gregory "G2" Burt, Don Jackson, Marvin Barlow and Kheyton Byrd. Honorary pallbearers will be Harry Wilson, Matt Byrd, Jake McGowin, Rodney Clay and Innes Hardy.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
