Clyde Thomas Jerkins, age 86, a native and resident of Stapleton, AL died Wednesday, December 4, 2019 at his residence. He retired from the woodland division of International Paper Company where he worked in the maintenance of heavy equipment department. He was a life long member of Galilee Primitive Baptist Church where he was a Deacon and Lead Song Director and a member of the Bay Minette Masonic Lodge #498.
He is survived by one daughter, Sylvia Diane (Roy) Curtis of Stapleton, AL; four brothers, Royce Jerkins of Stapleton, AL, Douglas Jerkins of Arizona, Robert Taylor Jerkins of Citronelle, AL and Donald Jerkins of Stapleton, AL; two grandchildren, 1st Sergeant Cory Thomas (Kimberly) Curtis of Dayton, OH and Dana Danyeil (Lee) Bryars of Stapleton, AL; great grandchildren, Christopher Holifield, Colby Holifield, Savannah Holifield, Cayden Middleton, Preston Bryars, Connor Bryars, Harley Curtis, Braun Curtis, Christian Rash, Chloe Shreve and Camden Shreve and great great grandchildren, Damon Holifield and Jenny Rash.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mazie “Sissy” Harville Jerkins; a brother, Claude Jerkins and two grandsons, Michael Curtis and Cole Curtis.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 7, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at the chapel of Norris Funeral Home with Reverend J.P. Lambert officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Saturday, December 7, 2019 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Norris Funeral Home.
Although the family will accept flowers they suggest memorial contributions be made to Galilee Primitive Baptist Church, P.O. Box 361, Bay Minette, AL or to Stapleton Church of God, 13593 Church St., Stapleton, AL 36578.
The family would like to say a special thank you to Kevin and Rita Ryan for there devoted, constant care during Mr. and Mrs. Jerkins illness.
